For Attorneys

If you handle many Social Security cases and are interested in collaborating on web projects, such as national sites and webrings that benefit both the disabled and our practices, please contact me, Paul McChesney, at calls@carolina-disability.com or call 864-661-4891.

Even if you don't frequently handle Social Security cases, feel free to reach out if you're interested in working together on a specific case. A substantial portion of our practice comes from associations with other attorneys.

Social Security law is complex, frequently changing, and varies depending on the judge assigned to the case. For attorneys who handle these cases occasionally, associating with counsel experienced in this area can be beneficial. We are happy to work with attorneys who refer cases at any stage of the process. While we encourage early referrals, we also accept last-minute cases or those referred after an adverse decision.

We handle appeals to the Appeals Council and Federal District Court for clients turned down at the hearing level. A different approach is needed at these stages compared to the hearing level. Every denied case should be thoroughly evaluated for further action.

We also handle cases denied at the Appeals Council level and take them to Federal District Court. However, because it’s harder to introduce new evidence at this stage, associating counsel earlier can improve the chances of a positive outcome.

Additionally, we handle select appeals to the Fourth Circuit. Although the court currently rules for claimants in only a small percentage of cases, having us involved from the Appeals Council stage can help ensure that issues are properly preserved for appeal.
