YOU NEED TO TALK TO AN ESTATE LAWYER RIGHT NOW! BEFORE that estate is distributed! Spend a small part of THAT money trying to protect the rest of it, or it might all be lost!

Anyone reading this who has a disabled child: You MUST have a will with special provisions to keep this from happening. Sometimes some of the money can be salvaged after the person's death, but sometimes it is all lost.

My Mom is 82 years old living in NC. She currently gets a Social Security from my Dad.
She recently had surgery for breast and kidney(left) cancer(both removed)
Can she get additional benefits(disability) for this illness in addition to the Social Security benefits without jeopardizing or risking reduction to her current benefits.

I would like to know if a 31 year old adult child of a disabled SSI recipient can receive back payments from date of birth to highest age allowed even if the parent is dead?
